Asturias Region pilot site for HORIZON-NEB-2026-01-BUSINESS-03

The Centro de Innovación Territorial (CIT) of Asturias, Spain, is interested in joining a consortium under HORIZON-NEB-2026-01-BUSINESS-03 – Approaches to reuse vacant, obsolete or underutilised spaces.

We aim to contribute as a territorial pilot, to connect EU innovative solutions and actions to real needs in our region (Asturias).

Rural areas and small municipalities here provide a particularly relevant environment for exploring new uses for vacant, obsolete and underutilised public buildings and spaces, while addressing broader challenges such as economic diversification, and the population declining in recent years.

CIT Asturias can contribute through:

• Identification of potential pilot spaces and territorial challenges (already form a list with potential buildings)

• Engagement with municipalities, local communities, businesses , local researchers and innovation institutes in the Region.

• Co-creation of potential new uses and business models taking into account our territory needs.

• Implementation and validation of proposal solutions in real territorial environments.

• Analysis of transferability and replication across municipalities and rural areas regionally (through GALs) and nationally (through CIT and LEADER Networks)

• Connection with regional innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems.

• Dissemination and exploitation of project results.

We welcome contact from coordinators and partners developing proposals and on-going consortiums looking for pilot territories, local ecosystems and replication partners.
