Public Art, Community Participation & Urban Transformation | Partner for European Projects
President & Artistic Director at Art in Progress
Greece
About
Art in Progress is an independent, non-profit cultural organisation based in Patras, Greece, with experience in contemporary art, international cultural cooperation, education and public space.
Through ArtWalk, we have developed a permanent network of 78 large-scale murals, working with international artists and local communities. Our experience includes artistic direction, large-scale production, participatory interventions, workshops, cultural communication and European cooperation through Interreg and Erasmus+.
We are looking to join European research and innovation consortia as a specialised cultural and implementation partner, particularly within the New European Bauhaus and Horizon Europe.
We are interested in projects exploring the relationship between public art, neighbourhood identity, community participation, social inclusion and people's experience of urban environments.
We can contribute:
-
Artistic direction and the production of permanent public art interventions.
-
Participatory artistic processes involving residents, young people and local communities.
-
Cultural and educational activities, workshops and public engagement.
-
Creative approaches to research communication and dissemination.
-
Practical experience in international cultural production and European cooperation.
-
Access to a real urban environment in Patras for collaboratively designed pilot activities, subject to the necessary permissions and agreements.
We are particularly interested in working alongside universities, research institutes, architects, social scientists, cultural organisations and project coordinators.
Our aim is to bring artistic practice into interdisciplinary collaborations, helping research projects engage with the everyday cultural life of cities while contributing to the careful study of public art's potential social and urban effects.
