South Moravia as a Living Lab for Public Building Renovation and Decarbonisatio

Financial specialists at South Moravian Energy Agency – JIMEG

Czech Republic

About

The South Moravian Energy Agency (JIMEG) is looking to join Horizon Europe consortia working on public building renovation, energy efficiency and decarbonisation.

We offer access to an extensive portfolio of regional public buildings and to municipalities across the South Moravian Region, which consists of 678 municipalities, including a large number of small and highly fragmented local authorities with limited technical, financial and administrative capacities.

This combination makes South Moravia an attractive real-life environment for testing whether innovative solutions can be implemented, financed and scaled from individual buildings to portfolio and regional level.

JIMEG can contribute as a pilot, demonstration, implementation and replication partner.

We can offer:

  • access to regional and municipal public building portfolios;

  • identification of suitable pilot and demonstration buildings;

  • direct cooperation with public building owners and municipalities;

  • expertise in building renovation and decarbonisation planning;

  • energy management and energy efficiency;

  • EPC and ESCO approaches;

  • innovative financing models for public building renovation;

  • aggregation of investment needs across municipalities;

  • development of renovation and investment pipelines;

  • stakeholder engagement and co-creation with municipalities;

  • testing and validation of tools and methodologies in real public-sector conditions;

  • regional replication, dissemination and market uptake.

JIMEG is currently implementing the LIFE EnU project, supporting municipalities with energy advisory services and the preparation of energy-efficiency and renovation investments.

A particular focus of our work is on developing feasible renovation and financing models for small municipalities with limited investment budgets and internal capacities.

At regional level, we are also involved in approaches to the systematic renovation and decarbonisation of the South Moravian Region's public building portfolio, including energy management, investment prioritisation and EPC potential.

What we are looking for

We are interested in joining consortia addressing topics such as:

  • deep renovation of public buildings;

  • building decarbonisation;

  • energy efficiency;

  • energy management;

  • whole-life carbon and LCA;

  • digitalisation of building portfolios;

  • building renovation passports and building data;

  • innovative financing and EPC;

  • aggregation of renovation projects;

  • renewable energy integration;

  • solutions for small municipalities;

  • public asset management;

  • scalable renovation models;

  • living labs and real-life demonstrations;

  • replication and market uptake.

We are primarily interested in consortia where JIMEG can take responsibility for demonstration, stakeholder engagement, public-sector validation, business and financing models, replication and regional scaling.

JIMEG offers more than access to individual pilot buildings. We provide an opportunity to test whether a solution can be implemented, financed and scaled across a real European region – from a large regional public asset owner to hundreds of small municipalities with limited capacities.
