Digital solutions for the new permanent exhibition

Digital content curator at MUSE - Museo delle Scienze

Trento, Italy

About

After 12 years since its opening, starting in 2026 MUSE will embark on a progressive refurbishment of its exhibition spaces. The six exhibition floors will undergo a rethinking process, in light of how our communication pillars have become more defined with respect to current challenges posed by the Anthropocene to global development models, to technological and social megatrends, and to the role that science can and must play in supporting virtuous transitions.

From its inauguration in 2013, MUSE was conceived as a museum with a strong multimedia and audiovisual component, while continuously striving to find the right balance between digital and physical experiences, between technological tools and the pure contemplation of objects, specimens, and spaces. The challenge is to update the onsite technological exhibits so that they represent a balanced yet impactful and memorable part of the visitor experience—projected into the museum’s next 15 years of activity—while respecting the constraints set by the architectural project of the Renzo Piano Building Workshop: transparency and natural light, thanks to the vast glass surfaces; lightness (“zero gravity”) embodied in clean and agile structures; and connection, resulting from the large open space in which all floors are united by a full-height central void.

MUSE is interested in engaging with startups and technology providers specializing in cultural heritage to explore which solutions and proposals could meet the indicated requirements and become, over the next decade, one of the key sources of attraction for visitors.
