Agricultural case study partner on decisions and incentives for biodiversity

Gazda Kontroll is a Hungarian agricultural advisory and innovation company working with more than 300 farms. Farmers often know about biodiversity-friendly practices and still do not adopt them. We want to help a consortium understand why and test what changes this. We have a worked-out concept for our contribution.

What we offer

• A Hungarian agricultural case. We can coordinate a case covering farms, advisers and value-chain actors. Our advisers see daily how profitability, labour, CAP rules and market access shape farm decisions.

• Decisions across the system. We bring farmers, advisers and buyers into research on incentives, routines, dependencies and power relations in land-management choices.

• Testing practical changes. We recruit farm and value-chain actors to co-design and pilot changes in advice, cooperation and purchasing. We work alongside behavioural and biodiversity researchers.

• Evidence for uptake. We document feasibility, costs, perceived risks and farmer responses. We then turn validated approaches into guidance for advisers and other stakeholders.

Track record
GK coordinates a Horizon Europe thematic knowledge hub on protein crops, which has been selected for funding. We have worked in five EIP-AGRI Operational Groups, three of them on protein crops and legumes.
