Hungarian agricultural living lab partner for farm restoration (Area B)

Gazda Kontroll is a Hungarian agricultural advisory and innovation company working with more than 300 farms across the country. We want to join a consortium under Area B (agriculture and forestry) as the partner running a Hungarian agricultural living lab. We have a worked-out concept for our contribution and are happy to share it with interested coordinators.

What we offer

• Farm sites along a gradient. We can recruit contrasting farms, from early conversion to established biodiversity-friendly management. Our advisers know these farms and the decisions they face.

• Co-created restoration measures. We work with farmers, researchers and the competent authority to agree feasible combinations of crop diversity, habitat features and other local measures.

• Agrobiodiversity experience. Our work on legumes, crop diversity and phacelia links to the call's focus on genetic diversity and in-situ conservation.

• Farm economics and incentives. We document management costs, land access, skills and financing barriers. We also assess what farmers need to continue the measures after the project.

• Peer learning. We coordinate field records, demonstrations and farmer-to-farmer exchange. Through the Hungarian Soybean and Protein Crop Association we reach more than 370 value-chain actors and support 5–6 major field events each year.

A coordinator with restoration ecology expertise.

Track record
GK coordinates a Horizon Europe thematic knowledge hub on protein crops, which has been selected for funding. We have worked in I2Connect and Climate Smart Advisors and in five EIP-AGRI Operational Groups.
