Using AI for mental wellbeing and in process of psychotherapy
Assistant Professor at Jagiellonian University Medical College
Kraków, Lesser Poland, Poland
About
The research problem focuses on the question of the value of using the created health application - analysing and reporting data on users' states and well-being - in diagnosis and treatment by psychotherapists and crisis intervention (a complementary aspect) and supporting independent care for the well-being and mental resilience of users (a substitutive aspect).
The research assumptions, starting from conclusions regarding the long-term assessment of psychological happiness from the Harvard Study of Adult Development, include verification of the importance of the application as (1) an accessible tool for monitoring and reporting the state and assessment of well-being of users, (2) a tool supporting the therapeutic process and communication between the client and the psychotherapist, and (3) a tool facilitating health self-observation and helping in independent care for health.
The innovativeness of the research would lie in taking over part of the work of a therapist or crisis interventionist by combining all collected data, correlating it with current specialist knowledge, and suggesting personalised actions for both the patient and the therapist. The unlimited number of combinations and information provided would allow for personalising the user's profile and creating a personalised therapeutic "office" with dedicated work tools in line with the current knowledge and methodologies of a psychologist from various psychological trends. It becomes 24/7 care and monitoring of the user's behaviour and life parameters. It acts as a personal assistant on the way to achieving resilience. AI would support the whole system.
