AI-supported LC-OCT for Precision Diagnosis and Monitoring of Inflammatory Skin Diseases

MD, PhD, Associate Professor at Department and Clinic of Dermatology, Sexually Transmitted Diseases and Clinical Immunology, University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn

Olsztyn, Poland

About

We are looking for academic and industrial partners from Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein to jointly develop an innovative translational research project focused on Line-field Confocal Optical Coherence Tomography (LC-OCT) as a next-generation non-invasive imaging technology in dermatology.

The project aims to develop and clinically validate AI-assisted LC-OCT algorithms for the diagnosis, disease phenotyping and treatment monitoring of inflammatory skin diseases, with a particular focus on atopic dermatitis and pediatric dermatology. The long-term objective is to create clinically applicable diagnostic tools that reduce the need for invasive skin biopsies, enable earlier diagnosis and support personalized treatment strategies.

Our team offers:

access to well-characterized pediatric and adult dermatology patient cohorts,

extensive expertise in inflammatory skin diseases and clinical phenotyping,

experience in prospective clinical studies and translational dermatology research,

clinical validation of novel diagnostic technologies,

patient recruitment and longitudinal follow-up.

We are seeking partners with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

LC-OCT technology development,

artificial intelligence and medical image analysis,

computer vision and machine learning,

biomedical optics and optical engineering,

digital pathology,

image processing,

biomarker discovery,

skin microbiome research,

medical device development and regulatory pathways.

Industrial partners interested in commercialization, software development, medical imaging systems or AI-based clinical decision support are also welcome.

The envisioned project will combine advanced optical imaging, artificial intelligence and clinical expertise to create innovative diagnostic solutions that improve patient care and strengthen precision dermatology. The consortium will work towards technology validation, multicentre clinical evaluation and translation of research outcomes into routine clinical practice, in line with the objectives of the POLNORIS programme.
