Research partner sought: safe visual tracking and robotic camera positioning for medical procedures
Chief Executive Officer at Accrea Medical Robotics
Lublin, Poland
About
Project idea: ACCREA Medical Robotics is seeking a research organisation in Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein for a POLNORIS applied-research project. Our proposed research direction is visual tracking of surgical instruments and context-aware, bounded positioning of a robotic camera during minimally invasive procedures.
The research challenge is to develop and evaluate robust perception and control methods under clinically relevant constraints, including occlusion, changing lighting, uncertain instrument positions and safe human oversight. The collaboration could combine research in computer vision, human–robot interaction and control with integration and testing on ACCREA’s robotic platform.
ACCREA would contribute system and clinical-use requirements, robotic hardware, low-level control, prototype integration and a route towards future product development. We seek a research partner to co-design the research methodology, develop and evaluate relevant algorithms, and jointly define measurable validation criteria and research outputs. The scope, work packages, budget and intellectual-property arrangements would be agreed with the selected partner.
Partner sought: A research organisation based in Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein with expertise in at least two of the following: medical image analysis or computer vision; surgical instrument tracking; safe robot control; human–robot interaction; validation of medical robotic systems. Experience working with clinical users or medical-device developers would be particularly valuable. We are looking for an active research partner responsible for defined tasks and deliverables, not a supplier of a ready-made algorithm.
