Research Partner for 15-Minute City Projects – Transformative Mobility and Living Labs; just and inclusive mobility

I am a sustainability scientist and lead the Transformative Mobility Research group at IZES, a publicly funded research institute in Saarland, Germany. Our research examines mobility transitions as socio-ecological transformation processes, with a particular focus on mobility justice, social inclusion, gender and intersectionality, mobility cultures, participation, governance and quality of life.

My group combines quantitative and qualitative empirical research with transdisciplinary and living-lab approaches. Our current work includes representative population surveys, participatory research, mobility interventions and real-world experimentation. We work closely with municipalities, public authorities, mobility providers and civil society.

Our location in Saarland provides a distinctive setting for 15-minute City research: a highly car-dependent and polycentric region combining urban, suburban and peripheral areas and situated directly at the French border within the cross-border Greater Region. This offers an interesting case for exploring how proximity-based approaches can work beyond major metropolitan contexts.

I am open to projects across the 15-minute City Transition Pathway, particularly where our expertise can complement urban planning, spatial, mobility or technological perspectives.
