RadiusWalk

RadiusWalk is a human-centred urban intelligence and research tool designed to explore how people discover, access and use the city within walking distance.

While conventional 15-minute city and accessibility approaches primarily measure what is physically available within a given distance or travel time, RadiusWalk goes beyond proximity to ask: Are nearby urban resources actually known, discovered, explored and used?

Users can define an adjustable walking radius or step-based route and explore everyday services, public spaces, culture, leisure, food, healthcare, education, mobility and other urban opportunities around them.

RadiusWalk also generates a personalized PDF report that translates the selected area into accessible urban insights, helping users understand what is available around them, the diversity and balance of nearby opportunities, and how their local urban environment can be better explored and used.

At the research level, RadiusWalk introduces the concept of City Use, examining the relationship between urban provision, accessibility, awareness, discovery, engagement and actual use.

For the DUT Call 2026, RadiusWalk could be further developed and tested with cities, universities and research partners as a human-centred approach to understanding and improving the 15-minute city as a public facing tool.
