HORIZON-CL4-2026-04-DIGITAL-EMERGING-01: Apply AI: Pilot of the “Science for AI” Pillar of RAISE (“Resource for AI science in Europe”) (RIA)

Coordinator of International Projects at Holon Institute of Technology

Holon, Israel

About

The Institute for Applied Research in Responsible AI (HIT) will contribute to the project as a research and policy-oriented partner, supporting the establishment and operation of the RAISE virtual institute for AI science.

Our contribution will focus on:

  • Strategic research coordination: Contributing to the co-design of the long-term research agenda of the virtual institute, with emphasis on foundational AI research that is transparent, governable, and aligned with European values and scientific sovereignty.

  • Responsible and governable AI science: Providing conceptual frameworks, methodologies, and evaluation tools that embed trustworthiness, transparency, and accountability into core AI research, supporting the “Science for AI” pillar.

  • Interdisciplinary collaboration: Bridging AI science with public policy, ethics, governance, and socio-technical analysis, enabling cross-disciplinary research collaboration across participating institutes.

  • Policy-aware AI research: Translating emerging AI scientific developments into policy-relevant insights that support EU-level coordination, long-term strategic planning, and alignment with regulatory and governance priorities.

  • International coordination and knowledge exchange: Supporting structured collaboration between European research institutes and relevant international research and policy ecosystems, strengthening Europe’s global leadership in AI science.

Through these contributions, the Institute will support the project’s objective of reducing fragmentation in European AI research and strengthening Europe’s scientific and strategic autonomy in AI.
