About
Bramaterra is a wine of ancient origins, first mentioned in historical documents dating back to 1447. It is produced in Upper Piedmont, on the highest hills of the Bramaterra area, from selected grapes grown in our vineyards in Villa del Bosco and Brusnengo.
The soil, composed of red-brown volcanic porphyritic sands with an acidic profile, gives the wine its distinctive minerality, contributing to richness, cleanliness and precision on the palate. The vineyards are located on hillsides between 300 and 350 metres above sea level, with southwest exposure and an average vine age of 48 years, cultivated using the traditional Guyot system.
The blend is composed of Nebbiolo (70%), Croatina (20%) and Vespolina (10%). After destemming and crushing, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with pumping over and rack and return, followed by an average maceration of 24 days. Malolactic fermentation occurs in correspondence with alcoholic fermentation.
The wine is aged for 24 months in medium-toasted French oak, in both large casks and barriques.
Thanks to its structure and composition, Bramaterra shows a strong ageing potential, evolving over more than 20 years.
