About
Lessona is produced in Upper Piedmont, in the historic hills of the Lessona township, from carefully selected grapes grown in our estate vineyards.
The ancient marine sandy soils of this area give the wine finesse and a delicate touch, defining the character of this unique corner of Piedmont. The vineyards, located on hillsides at around 300 metres above sea level with southwest exposure, are cultivated using the traditional Guyot system, with an average vine age of 55 years.
The wine is made primarily from Nebbiolo (90%) with a small percentage of Vespolina (10%). After destemming and crushing, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with pumping over and rack and return, followed by an average maceration of 24 days. Malolactic fermentation occurs alongside alcoholic fermentation.
The wine is then aged for 24 months in medium-toasted French oak, in both large casks and barriques.
Thanks to its structure and balance, Lessona shows a remarkable ageing potential, evolving gracefully over time.
