VauxAero 100 – Round-the-World Solar Vacuum Airship Expedition

Vauxminster Aeronautics is developing VauxAero 100, an ambitious future expedition to fly a solar-powered vacuum-buoyancy airship around the world.

The project is intended to provide a highly visible demonstration of vacuum buoyancy, solar-electric propulsion, and persistent zero-emission flight, while creating a platform for partners to demonstrate technologies to an international audience.

Vacuum buoyancy replaces helium or hydrogen with a lightweight structural vacuum. Combined with solar-electric propulsion and energy storage, we believe this could ultimately enable aircraft capable of exceptionally long-duration flight without fossil fuel or consumable lifting gas.

The VauxAero 100 Expedition is conceived as more than a record attempt. It would be a global aerospace technology demonstrator, providing opportunities to integrate and showcase advanced communications, sensing, navigation, autonomous systems, lightweight materials, solar technologies, and other innovations.

We are interested in hearing from Singapore organisations that could contribute to the expedition through:

• aerospace engineering and advanced manufacturing;

• lightweight structures and materials;

• solar power and energy storage;

• communications, 5G/6G, NTN and satellite connectivity;

• navigation and autonomous systems;

• sensing and environmental monitoring;

• payloads and technology demonstrations;

• flight operations and logistics;

• sponsorship and commercial partnerships; and

• media, education and public engagement.

Singapore's position as a major Asia-Pacific aerospace, technology and communications hub could make it an important partner and potentially a significant location within the wider expedition.

The immediate priority for Vauxminster is to validate the underlying vacuum-buoyancy technology through progressively larger hardware and flight demonstrators. The VauxAero 100 Expedition represents the longer-term destination: a compelling public demonstration of what persistent, solar-powered vacuum flight could ultimately make possible.
