CETI GovTech Challenge – Intelligent Public Transportation Monitoring
Cantonal Director of Territorial Planning for Development at the Municipality of Portoviejo. at Autonomous Government of the Municipality of Portoviejo Canton.
Quito, Ecuador
About
Aligned with the Municipal GovTech Ecosystem Collaboration Policy – Portoviejo 2050, this challenge seeks to modernize urban mobility through youth-led innovation. The project proposes a real-time bus tracking system using GPS and LoRaWAN technology, accessible via QR codes at bus stops. Citizens will be able to view the exact location of buses, estimated arrival times, and optimized routes.
The solution will:
-
Reduce waiting times and improve travel planning.
-
Strengthen trust in public transportation services.
-
Support sustainable mobility and intelligent city planning.
The project will be implemented in two phases: a pilot on one route, followed by expansion to 154 buses. Its collaborative model involves the Municipal Mobility Directorate, transport cooperatives, startups, and CETI innovators
