About
As part of our strategic commitment to the Caring for Ayrshire programme (2020–2030), NHS Ayrshire & Arran's Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) Department seeks to collaborate with academic, clinical, and community partners on projects in the social sciences and medical humanities.
We welcome proposals that address key strategic drivers such as:
-
Changing demographics and health inequalities
-
Shifting emphasis from hospital-based to community care
-
Enhancing service sustainability and workforce development
-
Improving patient experience and care pathways
Projects should align with one or more of our priority themes:

Primary Care
-
Care of the Elderly
-
Mental Health
-
Acute Services
We particularly encourage interdisciplinary approaches that integrate historical, cultural, ethical, and social perspectives into healthcare research.
Selected projects may be eligible for support through our RDI mentoring programme, access to clinical and non-clinical settings, and access to applying for funding opportunities through NHS Research Scotland, NIHR, and the Chief Scientist Office.
To express interest, please submit a brief outline (max. 2 pages) including project aims, relevance to NHS AA strategy, methodology, and anticipated impact to: carolina.borda@aapct.scot.nhs.uk
