Digital Sufficiency and Circular Design for Beautiful, Inclusive and Regenerative Living Environments - NEBourhoods

Anestis Papadopoulos

CSO at Pi tech

Katerini, Greece

About

Objectives

Obj1:Develop a digital twin-based methodology to map and quantify underutilised spaces with high reuse potential.

Obj2:Test and validate three sufficiency measures—adaptive reuse, time-based multi-use, and smart shared energy—in urban, peri-urban, and rural neighbourhoods across Europe.

Obj3:Quantify environmental and spatial resource reductions using LCA and sufficiency indicators.

Obj4:Address legal, social, and behavioural barriers through participatory policy design and SSH engagement.

Activities

A1: Mapping and Quantifying Underutilised Spaces

A2: Testing and Validating Sufficiency Measures

A3: Quantification of Absolute Reductions

A4: Addressing Non-Technical Barriers

Results

R1: Enhanced Mapping and Decision-Making on Vacant and Underutilised Spaces

R2: Deeper Understanding of Sufficiency Measures and Barriers

R3: Circular, Low-Demand Building Solutions with Scalable Impact
