Integrating Homelessness and Climate Justice into Inclusive Neighbourhood Design

energy poverty policy officer at FEANTSA

Belgium

About

FEANTSA is seeking to join a consortium under to bring the perspective of homelessness and inclusive, climate-resilient public space into neighbourhood design.

We advocate for spatial approaches that protect vulnerable households rather than displacing the poorest through exclusionary or hostile design. Our work shows how climate change, particularly extreme heat, disproportionately affects people experiencing homelessness, and why public spaces must provide safety, dignity, and access to basic protections.

With our European network and evidence-based expertise, we aim to ensure innovative neighbourhood design strengthens social inclusion, climate resilience, and protection for those most at risk.
