BUSINESS-03 | Adaptive reuse, ecological mapping and multispecies regeneration of underused spaces

ACEAA – Association for the Study and Innovation in Architecture – is a New European Bauhaus Community Partner based in Spain and is seeking to join a consortium preparing a proposal for HORIZON-NEB-2026-01-BUSINESS-03 – Approaches to reuse vacant, obsolete or underutilised spaces.

Our expertise combines architecture, adaptive reuse, urban ecology, biodiversity, participatory design and more-than-human approaches to the transformation of existing spaces.

We can contribute to tasks related to:

• spatial and architectural analysis of vacant, obsolete or underused sites;

• adaptive reuse and regenerative design strategies;

• biodiversity and nature-positive transformation;

• ecological and trans-scalar mapping;

• identification of existing ecological, cultural and social values;

• multispecies and more-than-human design approaches;

• participatory design and stakeholder engagement;

• living labs, workshops and co-creation processes;

• artistic and design-led research;

• communication, dissemination and public engagement.

ACEAA is particularly interested in approaches that recognise that underused or abandoned spaces may already perform valuable ecological and social functions, including supporting spontaneous vegetation, species habitats, informal uses and local networks.

We are interested in contributing as a project partner and Task Leader, working with universities, municipalities, research organisations, NGOs, cultural organisations, architects, ecologists and urban regeneration actors.
