Soil Biogeochemistry Expertise for Soil Resilience to Extreme Weather Consortium
Assistant Professor at EPFL+ECAL LAB
Sion, Switzerland
About
The Soil Biogeochemistry Laboratory at EPFL (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland) studies how soil redox processes respond to hydrological extremes such as flooding and drought, and how these dynamics shape carbon and nutrient cycling under a changing climate. We combine mechanistic field and laboratory experiments with biogeochemical modelling, and develop novel analytical approaches to quantify redox-dependent elemental fluxes under varying moisture and temperature conditions.
We are seeking to join as a scientific/technical partner a consortium preparing a proposal under HORIZON-MISS-2026-06-CLIMA-SOIL ("Joint demonstration of solutions to build soil resilience to extreme weather events and support food security"). We can contribute expertise in:
-
Soil biogeochemical responses to drought, flooding, and freeze-thaw cycles
-
Carbon and nutrient dynamics under climate stress
-
Novel analytical methods for in-situ soil process quantification
We are looking for consortia led by organizations with strong demonstration and stakeholder engagement capacity, complemented by partners in agronomy, land management, climate adaptation practice, or practitioner networks.
