Soil Biogeochemistry Expertise for Soil Health Monitoring Consortium
Assistant Professor at EPFL+ECAL LAB
Sion, Switzerland
About
The Soil Biogeochemistry Laboratory at EPFL (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland) investigates the electron transfer reactions that control the cycling of carbon, nutrients, and contaminants in soils. We combine field studies, laboratory experiments, and biogeochemical modelling to quantify redox-dependent fluxes across space and time, and we develop novel analytical tools to measure soil health indicators linked to redox chemistry, carbon turnover, and nutrient dynamics.
We are seeking to join as a scientific/technical partner a consortium preparing a proposal under HORIZON-MISS-2026-05-SOIL-01 ("Monitoring soil health in practice: equipping stakeholders to sample, analyse and interpret soil health indicators"). We can contribute expertise in:
-
Research infrastructure and laboratory capabilities for soil analysis
-
Development and validation of novel analytical methods for soil health assessment
-
Soil redox chemistry and its links to carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus cycling
-
Integration of molecular- and field-scale data
We are looking for consortia led by organizations with strong coordination and stakeholder engagement profiles, complemented by partners with expertise in soil monitoring networks, long-term field sites, land management, or sensor/remote sensing technology.
