Flash floods are no longer limited to cities. Disaster management - flood risk protection in rural and agricultural areas is becoming more severe.
This is impacting communities and the economy of rural areas. How nature-based solutions can help the contextual challenges of rural areas- village centres, agricultural and accessibility to sparsely populated areas.
Adaptation of the sponge city concept for rural areas in different ecozones is to be developed. Aligning and mainstreaming this into the policy framework.
