CLIMA-ADAPTIVE: Digital AI & Social Ecosystems for Local Climate Resilience
Senior Consultant at Post AI Systems
Berlin, Germany
About
The CLIMA-ADAPTIVE project seeks to co-design, develop and pilot a replicable, integrated climate adaptation framework that leverages advanced AI digital tools, localized knowledge systems, and stakeholder engagement models to support climate resilience across diverse European regions. The project will address key challenges in preparedness and adaptation by combining predictive analytics, real-time climate services, capacity building, and participatory governance to accelerate local implementation of climate adaptation plans.
Specifically, CLIMA-ADAPTIVE will:
-
Integrate Multilevel Governance and Local Needs: Co-create adaptation pathways with regional and local authorities, community organisations, and public-private stakeholders through structured multi-level governance processes.
-
Deliver Actionable Climate Services: Standardize climate services that support local decision-making, including risk assessment, early warning systems, and planning tools tailored to specific regional climate vulnerabilities.
-
Strengthen Digital and Social Innovation Ecosystems: Deploy digital platforms — including interoperable data layers, dashboards and AI-enhanced forecasting — and combine these with social science research to drive meaningful behavioural change and community adoption of adaptation measures.
-
Pilot Adaptive Solutions Across Territories: Demonstrate practical solutions in real-world settings (urban, peri-urban, rural and inland waterway contexts), validating technological and governance innovations with measurable resilience indicators.
-
Promote Knowledge Exchange and Scalability: Establish a knowledge hub connecting National Adaptation Hubs, fostering transfer of good practices, and enabling replication in at least 10 diverse regions beyond initial pilot sites.
The project aligns with multiple CLIMA call topics (such as National Adaptation Hubs, climate service standardization, and bridging climate adaptation with disaster risk management) while explicitly embedding AI digital and social innovation to maximize impact and uptake across local authorities and communities. CLIMA-ADAPTIVE is ideal for a cross-sector consortium combining research organisations, SMEs with digital expertise, city and regional governments, NGOs working on community engagement, and end users of climate adaptation services.
