About
A digital knowledge-sharing and collaboration platform will be developed to enable ports and their communities to exchange best practices, lessons learned, and innovative solutions for sustainability and resilience. The system will allow structured data entry through manual inputs and, where feasible, automated integration with existing port management systems. This comprehensive data collection will include information on implemented sustainability measures, environmental performance indicators, and operational practices such as waste management, energy transition, and biodiversity restoration.
The platform will feature an interactive repository of case studies and pilot projects, documenting measurable outcomes such as reductions in pollution, improvements in ecosystem health, and resilience enhancements. Each entry will include metadata such as geographic location, port size, applied technologies, and achieved KPIs (e.g., CO₂ reduction, waste recycling rates, biodiversity indices). This end-to-end digitalization will ensure traceability and comparability of practices across different ports and regions.
A core analytical component will involve benchmarking and statistical analysis to identify correlations between port characteristics, applied solutions, and achieved environmental outcomes. These insights will support the optimization of strategies and demonstrate scalability potential. Furthermore, the platform will include a simplified techno-economic and sustainability screening tool, offering indicative CAPEX/OPEX estimates, cost-benefit analyses, and key environmental KPIs for proposed solutions.
To foster collaboration, the system will integrate features such as:
• Peer-to-peer networking tools for connecting port authorities, local stakeholders, and industry partners.
• Knowledge exchange formats like virtual workshops, summer schools, and twinning programs.
• Interactive dashboards for monitoring progress toward Mission objectives and sharing real-time updates.
We will fulfill the below scope/outcomes of the call:
- Facilitate knowledge-sharing initiatives and partnerships within and between ports to leverage best practices and lessons learned by demonstrating their transferability and scalability potential;
