Active textile integration: from wearable prototype to certified series production
Director at AQ-Tech
Annecy, France
About
Most connected medical textiles never reach production. They work as prototypes, then fail on washing, on signal quality in real conditions, or on reproducibility in series. AQ-Tech's expertise lies at this junction: making mechanics, electronics and textiles work together on a body in motion, and manufacturing the result in series.
Problems we solve
-
A signal that degrades with movement, sweat or skin contact variation.
-
Electrodes, conductors or connections that fail after washing.
-
Electronics or pneumatics that do not fit into a wearable, flexible garment.
-
A prototype that cannot be reproduced at constant quality in series.
-
A project blocked between prototype and technical file.
Areas of expertise
-
Textile electrodes and measurement. Dry textile electrodes (geometry, materials, contact pressure), acquisition chains for biopotentials and bioimpedance, noise and motion artefact management, and signal processing that delivers usable data.
-
Electronic integration. Miniaturised electronics, board design and firmware, LPM and hotmelt encapsulation, and flexible, durable textile-electronic connections.
-
Inflatable systems. Airtight bladders, multi-material HF welding, mechanical and electronic triggering, pump blocks and pneumatic pressure regulation.
-
Functional textiles. Integration of electrostimulation electrodes, LED arrays and heating elements, with electrical and thermal safety in contact with the skin.
-
Validation and industrialisation. Washing validation through standardised protocols with test reports, assembly processes designed for series production, and traceability.
Proof
We currently produce a Class IIa certified medical device in-house, in clinical trial, and manufacture a washable electrostimulation garment in series. The three disciplines work in one team, with a prototyping workshop and a series production line near Annecy, in the French Alps.
How to use this expertise
We deliver a single module (textile electrode, pump block, trigger unit, integrated electronics) or the complete product, white label. Projects usually start with a 6-week feasibility study that gives a technical verdict, an architecture, a budget and a timeline.
