About
Progenus is a Belgian biotechnology SME seeking to join a consortium preparing a proposal for:
HORIZON-CL6-2027-01-CIRCBIO-08 — Biotechnology application for CCU.
We propose to contribute to the molecular monitoring and quality control of microorganisms used in biotechnology-based Carbon Capture and Utilisation processes, including engineered strains, microbial consortia and microalgae.
Our potential contribution includes:
-
development and validation of targeted PCR and qPCR assays;
-
identification and characterisation of production microorganisms;
-
quantification of productive strains during bioprocess operation;
-
detection and identification of microbial contaminants;
-
monitoring of strain identity and genetic stability during scale-up;
-
bacterial identification by 16S sequencing and whole-genome sequencing;
-
development of sampling protocols, SOPs and transferable quality-control workflows;
-
translation of validated methods into molecular control kits or OEM solutions where relevant.
Progenus can support the assessment of biological robustness, reproducibility and process stability from laboratory to pilot and industrial scale.
We operate PCR, real-time PCR and sequencing platforms, automated DNA extraction systems, a BSL-2 laboratory and an ISO 13485-certified environment for the development and production of molecular solutions.
