Personalized and Interactive Visitor Experience at La Pedrera–Casa Milà
Strategic Partnership at Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera
Barcelona, Spain
About
La Pedrera–Casa Milà is the most iconic civil building designed by the genius architect Antoni Gaudí and one of his most innovative creations. Constructed in 1912 on Passeig de Gràcia, one of Barcelona’s most important avenues, is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Today, it is one of the most significant tourist attractions in Barcelona, open to the public for tours and art exhibitions. Each year, more than a million visitors come to experience its unique design and history.
Every visitor to La Pedrera–Casa Milà comes with specific interests and may wish to delve deeper into particular topics that are not always covered by standard tour content, whether delivered by pre-programmed devices or live guides.
We are now planning to implement a new system that will provide our visitors with a more personalized and interactive experience.
THE CHALLENGE
To develop a technology-driven solution that enables visitors to access essential information while also allowing them to interactively pose questions, highlight areas of interest, or receive in-depth, personalized insights about La Pedrera–Casa Milà. The solution would leverage AI or other advanced technologies to deliver relevant answers in real time and provide access to additional documentary resources, drawing on the verified documentation and expertise of Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera and other trusted sources. The solution could also be useful to collect valuable data on visitor behavior and trends, supporting security, management, and the ongoing enhancement of the visitor experience.
Key requirements for the solution:
- Offer personalized, interactive content so each visitor can tailor their experience according to individual interests, with support for multiple languages.
- Compatible both with devices provided by the institution (e.g. mobile devices, headphones) and with visitors’ own smartphones or tablets.
- Collect and analyze data on visitor behavior, such as time management, movement flows, topics explored, and preferences.
- Support visit personalization from the planning stage (gathering information and preferences prior to arrival) and enable post-visit follow-up through tailored content to strengthen engagement.
NOT: We are NOT looking for conventional audio or video guide systems based on static, non-interactive content, which require frequent updates, cleaning and device maintenance.
