HGV route optimisation and OSM-based European tileset expertise

Cargoffer offers consortium partners deep operational expertise in running a route optimisation engine for Heavy Goods Vehicles at European scale. We operate a multi-country OSM tileset that we build, host and refresh operationally, and we expose the routing engine as a REST/OpenAPI service used by real paying customers in their daily freight planning workflows.

We contribute expertise in:

• Valhalla deployment and tuning for production: tile pyramid generation, costing options for HGV (height, weight, axle count, hazmat), costing profiles per country, traffic-aware costing integration, and performance tuning for sub-second response on European-scale routes.

• OSM data engineering at country level: Geofabrik extracts, schema normalisation, handling of country-specific tagging conventions, and quality control for routing-relevant features.

• Time-window and multi-stop optimisation, including pickup-and-delivery problems, vehicle capacity constraints and emissions-aware variants.

• HGV-specific considerations: weight and dimension restrictions, low-emission zones, bridge clearances, urban access regulations, and country-specific driving-hour and rest rules.

• Embedding the routing engine into larger systems: ERP connectors (Odoo, SAP, Dynamics 365, Sage, NetSuite), telematics connectors (Samsara, Geotab), and AI-agent access via our public MCP server.

• Operational practices: tileset versioning, observability, controlled rollouts and reproducible builds, which are critical for TRL6+ expectations in Horizon Europe pilots.

We are open to contributing this expertise to Horizon Europe 2026-2027 consortia in Cluster 5 (Mobility, including CCAM, logistics optimisation and HDV-focused calls in the 2ZERO partnership) and to Cluster 4 projects that include transport as a use case for digital-twin or AI demonstrators.
