DATEX-II traffic and event data ingestion expertise for European transport consortia

Cargoffer offers consortium partners operational expertise in ingesting and normalising DATEX-II traffic and event data across European countries. We currently run production scrapers for Iberia (Spain, Portugal) and France, handling DATEX-II v2 and v3 payloads from national access points, and we are actively expanding coverage to additional EU member states.

We contribute expertise in:

• DATEX-II v2 and v3 payload parsing, including the subset of classes relevant to freight operations: traffic incidents, roadworks, lane closures, weather-related events and abnormal traffic conditions.

• Multi-country access-point integration, including the operational quirks of national nodes (different auth models, different publication cadences, different levels of structured data quality).

• Normalisation of heterogeneous DATEX-II feeds into a single REST surface so that downstream consumers (route optimisers, dashboards, dispatchers, AI agents) do not need to handle country-specific formats.

• Resilience patterns for traffic ingestion: retries with backoff, deduplication of repeated events, source attribution, freshness indicators, and graceful degradation when an upstream access point goes down.

• Country-expansion methodology: from feasibility analysis to first production deployment, including a documented roadmap for additional European countries.

• Integration of traffic events into a Valhalla-based route optimiser to produce re-routing recommendations that account for live incidents and roadworks.

We are open to contributing this expertise to Horizon Europe 2026-2027 consortia in Cluster 5 (Mobility) and Cluster 4 (Digital & Industry, where traffic data feeds into digital twin and AI use cases). Our existing country coverage and expansion roadmap make us a particularly strong fit for projects that need traffic data across multiple EU member states.
