WILD-ID EUROPE – Biogen Praha as Proposed Coordinator | Seeking Consortium Partners
Managing Director & Genomics Project Lead at Biogen Praha
Prague, Czech Republic
About
WILD-ID EUROPE – DNA-based Wildlife Identity, Traceability and Enforcement Support
Horizon Europe Call: HORIZON-NATURE-2027-02-04
Proposed Coordinator: Biogen Praha s.r.o. (Czech Republic)
Biogen Praha is initiating WILD-ID EUROPE, an international innovation project addressing wildlife trafficking, genetic traceability and invasive alien species detection.
As the project initiator, Biogen Praha is considering taking responsibility for consortium coordination, supported by experienced Horizon Europe project management expertise.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
-
Develop and validate DNA-based identification methods using PCR, qPCR, STR/SNP genotyping and targeted NGS.
-
Enable individual genetic identification, species verification, parentage and kinship testing, and genetic origin assessment where scientifically feasible.
-
Establish secure digital identity records linked to validated genetic profiles.
-
Integrate AI-assisted analysis, cybersecurity and interoperable traceability technologies.
-
Develop molecular detection approaches for invasive alien species.
-
Validate solutions through operational pilots with competent European authorities.
INITIAL PILOT
Our proposed initial pilot focuses on individual genetic identification of selected primate species using non-invasive hair samples, subject to reference material availability and marker validation.
Further applications involving protected wildlife and invasive alien species will be co-developed with consortium partners.
PARTNERS SOUGHT
We are seeking:
-
Competent CITES, customs, environmental and other enforcement authorities from at least three eligible countries.
-
Research institutions specialising in wildlife forensics, conservation genetics and molecular ecology.
-
AI, cybersecurity, digital infrastructure and traceability technology partners.
-
Experienced Horizon Europe project management and consortium administration partners.
BIOGEN PRAHA'S PROPOSED ROLE
Biogen Praha intends to contribute molecular assay development, sequencing, genomic identification, bioinformatics and technical validation, while evaluating its role as overall project coordinator.
Our consortium is currently at an early development stage. Institutional participation and the final coordination structure remain subject to confirmation.
We welcome expressions of interest from organisations wishing to jointly develop a competitive Horizon Europe proposal.
