HORIZON-NATURE-2027-01-01: Understanding PFAS Effects on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services
Professor at Linköping University
Linköping, Sweden
About
We are developing an early-stage concept for HORIZON-NATURE-2027-01-01 and are seeking partners interested in understanding the nature and extent of PFAS effects on biodiversity, ecosystem functioning and ecosystem services.
A central scientific challenge is to connect environmentally relevant PFAS exposure and mixtures with biological mechanisms and ecological consequences across scales, rather than considering chemical occurrence or individual endpoints in isolation.
At Linköping University, we contribute environmental proteomics and metaproteomics to resolve molecular and functional responses to pollutants, including in non-model organisms and complex biological communities. Our interest is in using these approaches to strengthen the mechanistic link between PFAS exposure, biological effects and ecosystem-level responses, and to explore indicators of ecosystem damage and recovery.
We are particularly interested in collaboration with groups working in PFAS chemistry and exposure assessment, ecotoxicology, field ecology, biodiversity and ecosystem functioning, trophic interactions, ecosystem services, environmental monitoring, modelling and relevant field sites.
The project concept, ecosystem selection and study design are intentionally open for co-development with complementary partners
