Professor Dainius Pavalkis (born 1960.05.05) has cultivated a multifaceted career, intertwining medical practice, academic leadership, and policy development across Europe. His journey, originating as a Medical Doctor in Lithuania, has woven through various pivotal roles, including surgical and educational positions, and ascending to the Director for Surgery at Kauno Klinikos, Lithuania, with extensive research on surgical oncology and colorectal cancer.  Pavalkis' trajectory notably veered into the educational and administrative sector, where he held significant positions such as the Minister of Education and Science for the Lithuanian Government, playing a crucial role in the finalization of the HORIZON 2020 programme. Policy advisory activities was held as member of Research and Innovation Strategic Expert group (RISE HL) reporting to Commissioner Carlos Moedas and member of Scientific Panel for Health (SPH). His expertise was also sought in Kazakhstan, as Provost and Rector, overseeing educational, research, and clinical processes in medical universities. Dainius Pavalkis held advisory and expert roles for the European Commission, European Innovation Council, European University Association, focusing on project evaluation and policy advice in research and innovation. Simultaneously, he has sustained a robust presence in research, particularly in colorectal cancer screening, and has engaged in international consulting and the initiation of multiple research projects.
