About

The Lithuanian Cancer Patient Coalition (POLA) is a national umbrella organization uniting 30 NGOs dedicated to supporting people affected by cancer. Representing a community of over 57,000 registered POLA cardholders, the coalition leverages a unique patient database to mobilize focus groups, gather feedback, and ensure active patient involvement in shaping healthcare, research, and innovation.

In collaboration with the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU), POLA contributes to several Horizon-funded projects that place cancer patients and citizens at the center of research. These initiatives empower individuals to participate in the assessment of cancer research outcomes and co-create meaningful improvements in care. The partnership with LSMU enhances the scientific and systemic impact of POLA’s efforts, aligning academic research with patient needs and real-world experiences.

Together, POLA and LSMU are working to transform cancer care by fostering inclusive, patient-driven innovation that improves quality of life and strengthens patient advocacy in research and policy.
