MSCA PF Hosting Offer at Sabanci University - Economics of Parking

Prof. Dr. Eren Inci at Sabanci University is looking for outstanding post-doctoral researchers who are willing to apply for Marie Sklodowska – Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships (PF) 2023 call.

HOST INSTITUTION: Sabanci University (SU) is one of the leading research universities, ranking 1st in Turkiye in THE World University Rankings in 2023 and ranking 3rd in Turkiye in the QS World University Rankings in 2023.

In QS World University Rankings 2023 by subject, SU was ranked among top 500 universities in Social Sciences & Management (6th in Turkey). FASS has multiple graduate programs in economics, psychology, political science, conflict analysis and resolution and European studies, visual arts and communications design, history, cultural studies, and gender studies. The pre-existing cooperation schemes with EU-funded projects allow significant research collaboration with multiple international partners and different stakeholders. FASS has a highly competitive graduate student training and public outreach in multiple disciplines in social sciences and is a visible actor in social sciences and humanities nationally and internationally. On a national level, SU has been one of the most successful universities in Turkey in terms of the number of EU Framework Programmes funded projects per faculty member.

HOST: Eren İnci one of the worldwide-known experts in Economics of Parking. Parking is a very important intermediate good. Most economic transactions require transportation from one point to another. If the trip for the transaction is done within a vehicle, it also involves parking at the beginning and end of the trip. In addition, parking is also a major land use in Europe covering an area at least as large as one half of the entire land area of Belgium. Hence, mispricing of parking substantially distorts land use, car usage, and the pricing of other goods and services provided in cities. The general research of Prof. Inci concentrates on theoretical and empirical analysis of parking markets.

OFFER DESCRIPTION & REQUIREMENTS: The potential applicants are expected to have a strong background in theoretical and/or empirical techniques that can be useful in analyzing parking markets. A background in economics is not a must. People in related fields, such as transportation science, transportation engineering, geomatics engineering, urban studies, etc. are also encouraged to apply if they think that they are keen on undertaking interdisciplinary work. The successful candidate is expected to work closely with Eren Inci. Candidates should have a strong research motivation with the enthusiasm to bring scientific questions to successful conclusions. Researchers of any nationality holding a doctoral degree and those who have not resided in Turkey for more than 12 months in the three years before the call deadline (14 Sept 2023) are eligible to apply.
