About

These groups are dedicated to designing and synthesising dendritic nanosystems for use in biomedicine, including controlled drug delivery systems and therapeutic agents. Their research also covers catalysis and nanochemistry, exploring new methods of synthesising functional materials that could be used for diagnostics and therapy.

Dendritic Nanosystems for Biomedical Applications: This project aims to synthesise dendritic systems at the nanoscale for use in various biomedical applications, including those relating to cancer, HIV, antibiotic resistance, and neurodegenerative diseases. The systems will also be used in the agri-food and cosmetics industries.

Dendrimers, Catalysis and Nanochemistry: This group uses organometallic chemistry to develop various types of catalyst, such as molecular, supported and nanocatalysts, to improve the sustainability of processes (e.g. recoverable catalysts and aqueous-phase processes).

Services Offered by the Groups:

  • Synthesis and functionalisation of dendrimers and nanosystems

  • In vitro biological and toxicological evaluation of nanomaterials

  • Development of controlled release systems and targeted therapy

  • Heterogeneous catalysis for sustainable chemical processes

  • Consultancy in advanced physicochemical characterisation of nanomaterials

Current projects:

  • Dendrimers, Catalysis and Nanochemistry:

    • Development of a depigmenting and antioxidant cosmetic formulation based on metal nanoparticles functionalised with caffeic acid.

    • Design of a multicomponent nanoscale approach for responsive, transungual treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.

  • Dendrimers, Catalysis and Nanochemistry:

    • Exploring New Horizons in Palladium Chemistry: from Pd(I) Metalloradicals to Pd(II) BN-arene Complexes. Reference: PID2023-151454NB-I00.

**Patents:
**P202430154 – Iridium or rhodium complex comprising k²-(NN)-pyridyl-1,2,3-triazole ligands and its use as a catalyst in the dehydrogenation of formic acid and hydrogen production (Dendrimers, Catalysis and Nanochemistry)
