Enzyme based solutions fighting antimicrobial resistance

About

Technology Overview

ZymIQ Biopharma is developing a proprietary platform of engineered chimeric enzymes targeting antimicrobial-resistant bacterial infections through novel, non-antibiotic mechanisms of action.

Our pipeline currently consists of two lead programs:

Mycolyse targets non-tuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) infections. Our chimeric enzymes selectively degrade the complex mycobacterial cell envelope, resulting in direct antibacterial activity and the potential to enhance the efficacy of existing antimicrobial therapies. The lead indication is Mycobacterium avium pulmonary disease, a rapidly growing infection with significant unmet medical need.

Stapholyse targets staphylococcal infections, with the lead indication being canine pyoderma caused by Staphylococcus pseudintermedius. The program aims to provide an effective non-antibiotic treatment for recurrent and drug-resistant infections while preserving the normal skin microbiome.

Across both programs, we have generated multiple lead candidates demonstrating:

  • Strong in vitro and in vivo efficacy

  • High target specificity

  • Low toxicity

  • Preservation of the natural microbiome

Partnering Interests

We are seeking industrial and research partners with expertise in:

  • Development of scalable recombinant protein manufacturing and (pre-)GMP production of complex enzymes

  • Process development, expression optimisation and CMC

  • Disease-relevant ex vivo and in vivo infection models

  • Preclinical efficacy, safety and translational studies

Our objective is to establish collaborative projects that will accelerate the development of our lead candidates towards clinical evaluation and commercialisation.
