Digital Urban Twin for Climate Adaptation and Resilience
About
We are a research team at the University of Applied Sciences in Landshut with expertise in remote sensing (radar but not only), sensor integration and AI methods (e.g. for federated learning). We are particularly interested in joining a consortium for the HORIZON-MISS-2025-04-CIT-02 call by contributing our expertise.
Our research design so far focused on a platform based improvement of urban planning to enable cities to make informed, data-driven decisions in the face of climate-related challenges. The modular platform could include different use cases such as heat, heavy rainfall, ground water and urban vegetation (health and water availability). These are of interest for the City of Landshut which would be keen to serve as one of the pilot sites.
Key focus areas might include:
-
Advanced planning tools based on 3D modeling, GIS, and BIM for scenario development and decision supportIntegration of sensor data for real-time environmental monitoring
-
Modelling and simulation of extreme weather events such as heavy rainfall and urban heatwaves and their effects
-
Use of AI, including Federated and Transfer Learning, to enable scalability and knowledge transfer across different cities
We are actively looking for and happy to connect with:
-
Municipalities willing to serve as pilot sites
-
Research organizations contributing expertise in urban climate, AI, or digital modeling
