About
NORCE Coastal and Ocean Systems develops camera-based technologies for observing and analysing waves, surface currents and underwater environments. Our approach combines stereo imaging, 3D reconstruction, computer vision, machine learning and real-time data processing to extract quantitative information from image and video data.
Camera systems can provide spatially distributed observations of the sea surface and complement conventional point measurements from buoys and other instruments. Our technology supports wave-field reconstruction, estimation of wave and current parameters, underwater object detection and monitoring of dynamic marine environments.
We integrate camera observations with numerical models and data from radar, buoys and other sensors for calibration, validation and improved environmental understanding. Our capabilities cover the complete workflow from camera configuration and data acquisition to algorithm development, automated analysis, field validation and the delivery of operational data products.
We can contribute to international projects in ocean monitoring, maritime safety, aquaculture, offshore renewable energy, coastal infrastructure and environmental management. We are seeking partners for joint technology development, field demonstrations, data integration and the creation of scalable digital ocean services.
