Bioprocessing platform for valorisation of industrial side streams into bio-based chemicals and materials
International Cooperation Officer at Institute of Agricultutral and Food Biotechnology

About
IBPRS-PIB operates an integrated bioprocessing platform covering the full development path from strain screening to semi-technical production.
What we offer to consortia:
- Conversion of organic side streams (lignocellulosic residues, starch- and sugar-rich by-products, spent process waters) into organic acids, biopolymers, biosurfactants and other bio-based compounds
- Strain screening and selection from our own microbial collection, followed by process-oriented strain characterisation
- Fermentation process development and optimisation: medium design, fed-batch and continuous regimes, process monitoring
- Downstream processing and product recovery
- Scale-up from laboratory to semi-technical scale, with mass and energy balances supporting techno-economic assessment
Relevant to Processes4Planet and circular value-chain projects where a bio-based processing route needs to be developed, validated and demonstrated beyond bench scale.
Role in a consortium: RTO partner responsible for process development and pilot-scale validation (WP lead capable).
