Cross-sector collaboration for sustainable urban mobility transitions

IUS innovation is a Swedish consultancy working with sustainable mobility, behavioural change, process facilitation and implementation together with municipalities, regions and other public and private actors.

For the DUT Call 2026, we are interested in connecting with cities, research organisations and other partners that want to explore how ambitions for sustainable urban mobility can be translated into practical and lasting change across sectors.

A potential project could examine how transport, urban planning, public health, climate, road safety and behavioural change can be better connected in the implementation of mobility transitions. We are particularly interested in the gap between policy ambitions and what happens in practice: how organisations collaborate, how new measures gain public legitimacy, how risks and benefits are understood, and how cities can learn from interventions and from each other.

Possible areas of collaboration include:

• cross-sector governance and implementation of sustainable mobility measures;

• behavioural change and public acceptance;

• active mobility and reduced car dependency;

• road safety and Safe System approaches;

• public communication, media framing and narratives around urban mobility;

• methods for learning from risk, user experience and real-world implementation;

• comparative pilots across cities and countries.

We are currently exploring possible cooperation between Sweden, the Netherlands and Switzerland, but are open to partners from other eligible countries as well. From the Swedish side, Gothenburg or another municipality could potentially provide an urban test context depending on the project focus.

At this stage, we are deliberately keeping the scope open. We would be happy to connect with partners who already have a relevant project idea, city challenge, research question or pilot environment and see whether there is a strong basis for a joint DUT proposal.
