About

The Institute for Climate Protection, Energy and Mobility (IKEM) is a Berlin-based, non-profit research institute committed to shaping the legal, economic, and policy frameworks needed for a sustainable transformation of society. With a strong interdisciplinary foundation and over a decade of experience, IKEM conducts applied research in the fields of climate protection, energy systems, and mobility innovation, supporting both public and private stakeholders in navigating change.

In the mobility sector, IKEM is currently exploring new avenues for collaboration on cutting-edge topics such as the next steps for multimodal urban mobility, with a focus on user-centered travel experiences; reimagining parking, by transforming outdated urban parking policies into tools for livable, climate-friendly cities; and mobility policymaking in times of radical contestation, addressing how public policy can adapt to shifting social values, political resistance, and emerging norms.

Through collaborative projects, expert consultations, and policy dialogue, IKEM aims to co-create actionable solutions for the transport transitions of tomorrow.
