Work package leader/partner in clinical validation of imaging and biomarker tools for coronary atherosclerosis and cardiometabolic risk
Professor of Cardiology, Vice-Rector for Studies at Lithuanian University of Health Sciences
Kaunas, Lithuania
About
What I aim to do: Develop and clinically validate tools that combine cardiac CT, circulating biomarkers, clinical data and AI. The goal is to predict plaque progression, cardiovascular events and treatment response, so that prevention can move from population risk scores to individual decisions.
What I can contribute:
-
Lead a clinical validation work package. This covers study protocol design, ethics approvals, patient recruitment and follow-up at Kaunas Clinics, with a team trained in Good Clinical Practice and experienced in international trials.
-
A cardiac CT imaging core. This includes standardised coronary CT angiography, calcium scoring, quantitative plaque analysis and pericoronary fat attenuation index measurement. It also provides annotated imaging data for training and externally validating AI models.
-
Cohorts and data. I can contribute a prospective CT cohort with linked biomarker data, the long-term Kaunas epidemiological cohort, and experience analysing national electronic health records.
-
Contributions to other work packages. These include biomarker and multiomics validation, clinical input to AI model development (outcome definition and adjudication), and training and dissemination for clinicians/students.
-
A partner from a Widening country with established clinical research capacity.
Partners we are looking for: Coordinators and consortia working on cardiovascular imaging, biomarkers, AI-based risk prediction and precision prevention; imaging-AI and software developers; omics laboratories; and partners in health economics and patient engagement.
