About
My research focuses on elucidating the molecular, physiological, and pathological mechanisms that regulate skeletal muscle metabolism. Together with my collaborators, I principally investigate the histo-metabolic properties of skeletal muscle and the pathways that govern them under various conditions and disease models. We also investigate the histo-metabolic impact on other tissues such as cardiac muscle, liver and gastrointestinal tract.
Our work involves the analysis of preclinical models, including murine models of obesity, aging, and cachexia. We also participate in human studies examining skeletal muscle unloading, such as bed rest protocols. In addition, we are interested in identifying and testing potential countermeasures to metabolic dysregulation. In line with CARMEN2026’s personalized medicine objectives, our recent research has focused on sex-dependent metabolic responses to dietary interventions and their impact on systemic metabolism and skeletal muscle.
Overall, this expertise bridges preclinical findings with translational applications, supporting the development of personalized interventions for metabolic regulation.
