Expert in Physical Activity, Behavioural Interventions & mHealth (NCD Prevention across the Lifespan)

Associate Professor in Physical Activity & Sports Sciences - CIBER on Frailty and Healthy Aging at Universidad de Huelva

Huelva, Spain

About

I am a Professor at the University of Huelva (Spain) with a strong background in Physical Activity Epidemiology and Lifestyle Interventions. My research focuses on using technology and behavioral strategies to prevent Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and promote health across the lifespan (from youth to older adults).

I offer expertise to potential consortia in the following areas:

  • Lifestyle Interventions (All Ages): Design and implementation of Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) aimed at increasing physical activity and reducing sedentary behavior in different populations (children, adults, and older adults).

  • Digital Health & mHealth: Validation and use of wearables (accelerometry) and mobile applications to monitor movement behaviors and deliver remote interventions (e.g., e-Health solutions for behavioral change).

  • Assessment of 24-h Movement Behaviors: Expertise in analyzing the combined effects of sleep, sedentary time, and physical activity on health outcomes (cardiometabolic health, mental health, and cognitive function).

  • Implementation Research: Experience in scaling up interventions from clinical settings to community, school, or home-based environments.

I can contribute as a Partner leading work packages related to:

  • Development and implementation of lifestyle interventions: Designing and executing physical activity/exercise programs to improve health in clinical and community settings.

  • Measurement of health outcomes: Comprehensive assessment of physical health variables (body composition, functional capacity), cognitive function, and quality of life.

  • Objective monitoring of movement behaviors: Advanced use of wearables (accelerometry) to measure physical activity, sedentary time, and sleep patterns.

  • Data analysis: Evaluation of dose-response relationships and effectiveness of health interventions.

Looking For (Partner Request): I am looking to join consortia targeting Horizon Europe Health Cluster calls related to:

  1. Primary Prevention in Youth & Adults: Interventions to tackle obesity, sedentary lifestyles, and mental health issues in children and young people (e.g., STAYHLTH-02).

  2. Digital Health Technologies: Projects developing or validating digital tools to prevent NCDs across different age groups.

  3. Healthy Ageing & Longevity: Strategies to maintain function and prevent frailty in later life.

  4. Environmental Health: Impact of climate change on physical activity patterns and health.

I am interested in collaborating with:

  • Technological Partners: Developing sensors, apps, or AI for health monitoring.

  • Schools & Community Centers: For intervention implementation in young populations.

  • Clinical Partners & Public Health Bodies: For large-scale trials and policy implementation.
