About
I am a Professor in Biomedical Engineering and Director of the Technology Transfer Office at a research-active university, with strong experience in innovation management, technology transfer, living labs, and real-world validation of health technologies. My work focuses on bridging the gap between research excellence and real-world impact, a core priority of Horizon Europe. Since Nov 2022, i serve as STAG MEDEV at WHO.
My team supports the translation, validation, and deployment of health, digital health, AI-enabled, and medical technologies by integrating user-centered design, clinical and real-world testing, regulatory awareness, and exploitation planning from early development stages. We actively work with academic researchers, hospitals, startups, industry, and public stakeholders to ensure technologies are robust, adoptable, and scalable.
Key competencies of my team include:
-
Innovation management and technology transfer for health technologies
-
Living lab design and coordination with clinical and real-world environments
-
Clinical, technical, and user-centered validation methodologies
-
Usability, feasibility, and impact assessment of health innovations
-
Academic–industry collaboration and co-creation frameworks
-
Intellectual property strategy, freedom-to-operate awareness, and exploitation pathways
-
Market analysis, business modeling, and sustainability planning
-
Support for regulatory-aware development and AI governance
Proposed role in a Horizon Europe consortium:
-
Work Package leader or contributor for innovation management and exploitation
-
Task leader for living labs, pilot studies, and real-world validation
-
Contributor for stakeholder engagement, co-creation, and user adoption
-
Support for IP strategy, commercialization pathways, and sustainability plans
-
Contributor to ethics, regulatory, and responsible innovation tasks
Type of collaboration sought:
I am seeking to join a Horizon Europe Health Cluster consortium as a partner, collaborating with:
-
Coordinators seeking strong impact, validation, and exploitation leadership
-
Clinical partners and hospitals for pilot testing and validation
-
Industry partners (medtech, digital health, pharma, AI)
-
Research organizations and innovation ecosystems
I am particularly interested in projects aiming to ensure that health innovations progress beyond research into validated, deployable, and impactful solutions, with clear pathways for adoption, commercialization, and long-term societal benefit.
