About

WONCA (World Organization of Family Doctors) is a global professional association representing 135 Member Organizations across 7 regions, committed to strengthening primary healthcare and family medicine worldwide.

We are seeking Horizon Europe consortia and coordinators developing projects that require strong primary healthcare involvement, real-world implementation, professional engagement, and policy-relevant impact.

What WONCA brings to Horizon Europe projects:

  • Direct access to primary care settings and professionals through our global network of family doctors

  • Thematic expertise via 28 Expert Groups and Special Interest Groups, including:

    • Primary care research & implementation science

    • Mental health, family violence, and non-communicable diseases

    • Digital health, eHealth, and health literacy

    • Climate change, planetary health, and sustainable healthcare

    • Quality, safety, ethics, and low-value care

  • Capacity-building & training (online, blended, Train-the-Trainer models)

  • Co-creation and piloting of interventions in diverse health system contexts

  • Evaluation, dissemination, and policy uptake, including links with WHO, PAHO, and global stakeholders

Relevant experience:

WONCA has led and contributed to international projects on:

  • Mental health in primary care (e.g. MDD Minds)

  • Climate change, air pollution & planetary health (e.g. BREATHE)

  • Digital health competencies for family doctors

  • Family & gender-based violence

  • Clinical ethics, deprescribing, and human factors

  • Education standards, accreditation, and quality improvement in primary care WONCA

Topics of interest:

We are particularly interested in consortia addressing:

  • Primary prevention and management of NCDs

  • Mental health and wellbeing across the life course

  • Digital technologies and their impact in primary care

  • Climate change, environmental health, and health system resilience

  • Low-value care, quality improvement, and patient-centred care

  • Community-based and interdisciplinary approaches beyond hospital settings

WONCA is interested in participating as a project partner, contributing scientific, implementation, training, and dissemination expertise grounded in real-world primary healthcare practice.
