WONCA Association

WONCA (World Organisation of Family Doctors) is a global non-profit association representing more than 500,000 family doctors across 130+ countries through its network of 130 Member Organisations. Founded in 1972, WONCA works to strengthen primary health care worldwide by advancing family medicine, promoting evidence-based practice, supporting research, and building the capacity of the primary care workforce.

WONCA collaborates closely with the WHO on primary care, universal health coverage, digital health, planetary health, gender equity, and community-based services. Its work is delivered through global Working Parties and Special Interest Groups on education, research, quality and safety, mental health, environment, ethics, rural health, migrant care, emergency medicine, and more.

As a partner in international research and innovation projects, WONCA provides access to extensive primary care networks, expert panels of family physicians, implementation sites across multiple regions, and strong capabilities in training, dissemination, stakeholder engagement, and practice-based research. WONCA actively supports multi-country collaborations aimed at improving population health outcomes, strengthening health systems, and scaling innovative models of care in real-world primary care settings.
