About
Hello, I am Michael Sy (PhD) and I am part of the research staff at ZHAW, specializing in community health and interprofessional research. My current work centers on social determinants of health and health justice for people with Long COVID, where I lead projects that combine mixed-method and qualitative research designs to better understand patient experiences and inform evidence-based interventions and policies.
Research Interests:
-
Health justice and community health
-
Occupational therapy for Long COVID and chronic conditions
-
Return to work and sustainable work integration
-
Mixed-method and qualitative research methodologies
-
Interprofessionalism, occupational science, and critical perspectives
Looking Ahead:
I am preparing a follow-up project proposal for 2026 to deepen insights into the impact of social determinants of health for people with chronic conditions and strengthen patient voices in research and policy development.
Let’s Connect:
I am eager to collaborate with researchers, practitioners, and organizations interested in community health, patient engagement, and innovative research methods. If you share these interests, let’s exchange ideas and explore synergies!
