Environmental and Public Health Impacts of Cement Production in Low- and Middle-Income Countries
Academic Teacher &Marie Curie Doctoral candidate at AGH university of krakow
Kraków, Poland
About
I am a Marie Skłodowska-Curie PhD researcher working at the intersection of environmental sociology, public health, and industrial pollution, with a specific focus on cement production and its impacts on nearby communities in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) and Europe.
My doctoral research combines ethnographic fieldwork, community-level health data, environmental exposure assessment, and secondary epidemiological datasets, including the Global Burden of Disease (GBD). Through field studies conducted in Pakistan and planned comparative work in countries such as Zambia and Malaysia, I investigate how long-term exposure to cement plant emissions affects respiratory diseases, reproductive health outcomes (including miscarriage), socioeconomic conditions, and environmental well-being.
I am particularly interested in methodological collaboration that bridges qualitative community data with large-scale quantitative datasets, especially GBD and national health statistics. My work contributes to ongoing debates on industrial responsibility, environmental justice, and hidden public health burdens in rapidly industrializing regions.
What I Offer
-
Expertise in ethnographic and qualitative research in industrial and community settings
-
Experience with environmental and health impact assessment near cement plants
-
Ability to integrate primary field data with GBD and secondary health datasets
-
Strong background in LMIC fieldwork, stakeholder engagement, and policy-relevant research
What I Am Looking For
-
Collaboration with researchers working on Global Burden of Disease, environmental epidemiology, or exposure science
-
Support in advanced quantitative methods and comparative cross-country analysis
-
Joint publications, grant proposals, and interdisciplinary research networks
-
Institutional partnerships for multi-country public health and environmental research
